FEEL THE VIBE

Good Friday. Jesus died. Darkness, dismay, consternation, an enormous grief takes over the environment. Pain and suffering. The sound of funeral wailing invades the slopes of Ouro Preto, in the interior of Minas Gerais. The faithful yearn for a light.

3 days later, on Easter Sunday. Jesus' physical body disappears from the tomb. His spirit resurfaces for Christians. It is the enigma and miracle of the Resurrection.

The light shines again. Joy, a feeling of satisfaction, of happiness. Contentment takes over the city. The streets are decorated with sawdust mats. People dressed as angels and other biblical figures walk in procession. The band plays happy music. The faithful return to their homes with light hearts, invigorated by the positive energy of faith.

Purity. Mystery. A certain ethereal atmosphere. A suggested, felt presence.

Always imagined with long robes of light colors and wings facing the sky, angels are God's assistants, beings of light and of great purity. They are also His messengers, guardians, enforcers of His law, and protectors of the chosen. They are purely spiritual beings, created out of nothing, at the dawn of creation.

They wander silently among the followers of Christ after His death, on Good Friday night. They seek, in the darkness, the light of the world, the light of the Son of God. They don't find it.

3 days later, on Easter Sunday, the enigma of the Resurrection. Jesus' physical body disappears from the tomb. His spirit resurfaces for Christians.

Once again, the angels mingle with the crowd. They walk side by side with men, now to celebrate the mystery of the afterlife. They lift their wings high, symbolizing God's creative power and the way He covers and protects all things He created on earth.

Everything is celebration: white lace towels are placed on the windows, carpets of flowers decorate the paths, hope for a good life after death is reborn, next to God, its creator.
